The short answer: Track123 adds a branded tracking page, automatic shipping-status notifications, and multi-carrier parcel tracking to Shopify orders. Shopify already sends order confirmation emails and fulfilment notifications with tracking numbers natively, so the app's real value is the on-site branded page and fewer "where is my order" enquiries. The subscription is billed in US dollars against your AUD revenue, and the app's App Store listing, checked on 30 August 2026, is the authoritative source for current plan prices. Before installing, verify that Track123 recognises the Australian carriers you actually ship with, and read the privacy policy against the Australian Privacy Act 1988. For stores with few orders, or carriers that already send complete notifications, Shopify's native features may be enough.

Australian seasonally adjusted retail turnover was A$37,906.6 million in June 2025, up 1.2 % on the prior month and 4.9 % on June 2024, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics. More sales mean more parcels, and more parcels mean more customers asking where their order is.

If you're still setting things up, our Shopify Australia: set up your store step by step guide covers the foundations. This page assumes orders are flowing and you're deciding whether a tracking app earns its keep. The question isn't whether Track123 is good software. It's whether what it does is worth paying for when Shopify already handles half the job. Our How much does Shopify cost in Australia? page breaks down the platform bill; this one is about the app layer on top.

What Shopify does without any app

Shopify sends an order confirmation email the moment a customer checks out. No app required. When you fulfil an order and attach a tracking number, Shopify sends a shipping notification with that number. The admin tracks fulfilment status. Customers can view their order status page.

That covers the basics. A customer knows their order was placed, knows it was shipped, and has a tracking number in their inbox. For some stores, that's the entire tracking experience, and it costs nothing beyond your Shopify plan. Our What is Shopify, and how does it work in Australia? page explains what's included natively.

The gap is real, though. Shopify's notification gives a tracking number and a link. It doesn't give customers a branded page on your domain where they can watch the parcel move. It doesn't pull live carrier data into one place. And it doesn't answer the support ticket where a customer emails to ask "is my order on its way?" because they can't find the original email.

Where Track123 picks up

This is where the app starts. Track123 provides a branded tracking page on your store's domain. Customers enter an order number or tracking number and see live status updates without leaving your site. The app syncs tracking data from multiple carriers and sends branded email notifications at each shipping milestone.

The Baymard Institute suggests including order tracking directly on-site so users return to check the status of their package. That's the core value: a destination page that keeps customers on your domain instead of sending them to a carrier website.

Track123 also adds post-purchase features beyond tracking. Product recommendations on the tracking page, estimated delivery dates, and PayPal tracking sync to speed up fund release are listed in the app's feature set. For dropshipping stores, the app can hide supplier information from the tracking page. None of these are things Shopify does natively.

Here's the dividing line, made plain:

What you need Shopify native Track123 adds
Order confirmation email Yes, automatic Branded version
Tracking number in email Yes, when you fulfil Auto-synced from carriers
On-site tracking page Order status page only Branded, multi-carrier
Live carrier status updates No Yes, if carrier is listed
Post-purchase email flows No Yes
Product recommendations No Yes, on tracking page

When not to install Track123

Not every store needs a tracking app. A store sending five parcels a week through Australia Post gets most of the value from Shopify's native fulfilment email. Australia Post's own tracking is comprehensive, and customers who use it regularly already know how to track a parcel.

Some categories barely generate "where is my order" (WISMO) enquiries. Digital goods, made-to-order items with long lead times, and local pickup orders don't carry the parcel-in-transit anxiety that drives support tickets. If customers aren't asking, an app that reduces those questions has nothing to reduce.

Under the Australian Consumer Law, automatic consumer guarantees apply to products and services, including online purchases, as the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission explains. If a consumer has a problem, their first step is to contact the seller. A tracking app might reduce how often they contact you. It doesn't change what you owe them when something goes wrong.

Track123 and your Australian carriers

This is the first local test, and it's non-negotiable. Track123 markets coverage of over 1,100 global carriers. That number doesn't tell you whether the specific Australian carriers you ship with are on the list.

Australia Post, Sendle, StarTrack, Aramex, and CouriersPlease are the carriers most Australian Shopify merchants use. The app's App Store listing is where you verify coverage. Open the carrier list, search for each carrier you ship with, and confirm it appears. Don't rely on a global carrier count. A store that ships exclusively through Australia Post needs Australia Post recognition, not 1,100 carriers it will never use.

There's a practical edge case with Australia Post MyPost Business. Some merchants lodge parcels through MyPost Business and receive tracking numbers in a specific format. Whether Track123 parses that format correctly is something you can only confirm by sending a test order. The app's documentation doesn't call out MyPost Business specifically, which means you should test before relying on it.

What Track123 costs in AUD

The subscription is billed in US dollars. Your revenue is in Australian dollars. That conversion matters because it changes the real cost every month as the exchange rate moves.

Track123's App Store listing, checked on 30 August 2026, shows the current plans and prices. We won't quote a specific figure here because app pricing changes, and the listing is the authoritative source.

Overage fees are the real cost trap. Most tracking apps tier by shipment volume. Send 200 orders a month and you might fit on the entry plan. Send 500 and you hit the overage band, where each additional tracked shipment costs extra. For a growing store, the overage is where the monthly bill climbs past the advertised price.

Your Shopify plan and processing fees are separate costs. Our Shopify Payments in Australia: fees and setup page covers those. If your GST turnover reaches A$75,000 or more, the Australian Taxation Office requires you to register for GST within 21 days. The app subscription is a business input, and GST-registered businesses can generally claim input tax credits on it. That softens the cost at BAS time, not upfront.

The dividing line is order volume and carrier diversity. A store sending five parcels a week through Australia Post alone gets most of the value from Shopify's native fulfilment emails. A store sending fifty a week across Australia Post, Sendle, and StarTrack starts to earn back the subscription through fewer support tickets and a branded page customers return to. The trap is installing it before you know your actual carrier mix and monthly shipment volume.

Australian privacy law and where data sits

Track123 is a US-based app. When a customer enters their order number on your tracking page, their data passes through Track123's servers. The Privacy Act 1988's 13 Australian Privacy Principles govern the collection, use, disclosure, and storage of personal information, as the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner sets out. A breach of an Australian Privacy Principle is an interference with privacy and can lead to regulatory action and penalties.

You're responsible for the data your store collects, even when a third-party app processes it. Read Track123's privacy policy before installing. Note where data is stored, how long it's retained, and whether it's shared with other parties. If you can't find clear answers to those three questions, that's a red flag regardless of how good the tracking page looks.

Consider what you disclose to customers, too. If their order data is sent to a US-based service for tracking, that's a data practice worth being transparent about in your privacy policy.

WISMO claims and what to believe

Track123's marketing cites percentage reductions in WISMO tickets. These figures appear without methodology, sample size, or timeframe. That doesn't mean they're wrong. It means you can't verify them, and you shouldn't buy based on a number you can't trace.

What you can do is measure WISMO in your own store. Before installing, count your "where is my order" emails for a month. Install the app, run it for a second month, and count again. The comparison is yours, not a vendor's. Shopify's analytics won't track email enquiries directly, but your inbox or helpdesk will.

The ACCC notes that if a consumer has a problem with a product or service, their first step is to contact the seller. A tracking page that answers the question before the customer emails you reduces that contact. But it only works if the carrier data is accurate and timely, which brings you back to the local carrier test.

Try Track123 before you commit

Don't install a tracking app on your live theme without testing it first. Duplicate your theme, install the app on the copy, and send test orders through every carrier you use. Check the tracking page as a customer would see it. Then decide.

Our suggested pre-install checklist:

  1. List every carrier you currently ship with (Australia Post, Sendle, StarTrack, Aramex, CouriersPlease)
  2. Open Track123's carrier list in the App Store listing and confirm each one appears
  3. Note the current plan price in USD and convert it to AUD at the day's exchange rate
  4. Check whether your monthly order volume triggers overage fees on that plan
  5. Read the app's privacy policy and note where customer data is stored
  6. Install on a duplicate theme and send one test order per carrier. Verify the tracking page displays correct status updates.

If any carrier fails the test, the app isn't the right fit regardless of price or features. Carrier recognition is the foundation. Everything else, the branded page, the email flows, the product recommendations, is built on top of that foundation. If the carrier data doesn't come through, the page is just a branded empty box.

For stores that import goods, note that GST applies to low value imported goods with a customs value of A$1,000 or less. This has applied since 1 July 2018, according to the ATO. Multiple low value goods shipped in one consignment with a customs value over A$1,000 are taxed at the Australian border instead. This affects your pricing and customers' expectations, but it doesn't change how a tracking app works.

Frequently asked questions

Does Track123 support Australia Post, Sendle, and StarTrack?

Track123 lists over 1,100 global carriers, but the only way to confirm a specific Australian carrier is to check the carrier list in the App Store listing directly. Australia Post and StarTrack are commonly supported by multi-carrier tracking apps. Sendle can be less reliable because it uses Australia Post's network for some deliveries and its own for others, so the tracking number format varies. Send a test order through each carrier before paying.

What does Track123 cost in AUD, including overage fees?

The subscription is billed in USD, so the AUD cost changes with the exchange rate. The App Store listing, checked on 30 August 2026, is the authoritative source for current prices. Most tracking apps tier by shipment volume, so calculate your monthly order count first, then check which plan you'd land on. Overage fees typically apply per tracked shipment above your plan's limit, and they're where the monthly bill climbs for growing stores.

Is Track123 the best tracking app for Australian Shopify stores?

We don't rank apps we haven't run hands-on. The right question is whether Track123 recognises your carriers, fits your order volume, and complies with your privacy obligations. Other tracking apps are commonly mentioned as alternatives, but we can't compare them cell-by-cell without citing each app's own listing. Install the free tier of whichever app you're considering and test it with a real Australia Post order before paying for a plan.

Can Track123 integrate with Australia Post MyPost Business?

Track123's documentation doesn't specifically mention MyPost Business. MyPost Business generates tracking numbers in a standard Australia Post format, which most tracking apps should parse. But "should" isn't "does." Send a test order through your MyPost Business account and check whether status updates appear correctly on the branded tracking page before committing to a paid plan. If the format isn't recognised, the page will show no data and customers will email you anyway.
